A Boca Raton man was arrested Monday after he allegedly left the scene of a crash, then attempted to fight police officers after they caught up to him, according to an arrest report.
Daniel Castellanos is facing charges of simple assault on an officer, resisting arrest without violence and leaving the scene of an accident involving property damage. Castellanos, 31, was released from the Palm Beach County Jail on Tuesday on his own recognizance.

Castellanos was driving south on Congress Avenue in Boca Raton when he allegedly rear-ended a vehicle and did not stop. The victim followed Castellanos to the 600 block of Yamato Road and alerted police.
When Boca Raton police officers arrived, Castellanos moved into a fighting stance and threw a punch that struck the back of his own vehicle, the report said.
Castellanos attempted to run from police but lost his balance and fell before being handcuffed, the report said. A body wrap, which constricts movement, was placed around Castellanos.
Castellanos lists his occupation on the police report as “disabled vet” and listed his business address as “U.S. Marines.”
